I'll admit it; as a kid, and like every other kid out there, I wanted to see what it was like being in the climatic final battles of the Star Wars movies. Well, now you can with two games by the same author. Battle of Yavin recreates the final fight of the original Star Wars movie while Battle of Endor recreates the final fight of the third film. Both place you in the cockpit of an X-Wing in full 3D epic space battles, complete with Star Wars music. I couldn't have asked for more. Well, except for full ship skinning as the original games were programmed with shaded gray models. Luckily there are full Mods available on the author’s site to add detail to both games. The controls themselves are kept simple; the mouse to move, the left mouse button to fire, 'Q' and 'A' to speed up and slow down, 'Z' to change to torpedoes and 'X' to change firing style.

Both GREAT games but there is more good news.
ReplyDeleteA VERY clever guy called 'LURKER' has created a graphics and sound upgrade for BOTH these games and its free.
Just type 'Battle of Endor/Yavin LURKERS MOD' into google and they are both there.
Its just an exe file and very easy to instal.
Once installed, the game looks like a PS2 release and sounds a LOT better.
Great games made better by 'Lurkers' mod.
I'll have to try that out. The Mod I'm using only seems to work part of the time and even then doesn't re-skin everything in the game like it's supposed to.
ReplyDeleteMind you, the last ones he made are 1.5 for endor and 1.4.1 for Yavin. I still see the older ones at the top of the google search.
ReplyDeletehow do you get the graphics
